More Than Just a “Food Truck”: West 47th

image

I know many of you are aware of the explosion of food trucks that have been seen all across the nation. Well now that same concept is being taken to a whole other level and can be experienced right here in Richmond!  Leslie Marie a native of the city, is beginning her own mobile store. In it she plans to display as she says,  “a mix of accessories, beauty, fashion, gifts and home décor that reflect a sense of style that transcends time. In addition, there will be pieces by local artisans and repurposed finds.”

image

In case you didn’t know, Leslie is the creator behind the “Doll’s in the City Tour, ” where during the summers, she travels along the East Coast providing a forum where women can meet,  mingle,  sample beauty products and shop fashion trends.  As a single mom,  it is important to Leslie to show other women how they too can be a business woman,  entrepreneur and mom. In an effort to make sure her own daughter never forgets where she comes from, Leslie has dedicated the name her mobile business after a familiar place they call home on West 47th street.

Perhaps the biggest reason Leslie wants to see her latest business venture become such a  success is because it was a dream her and her father were going to start together last year. Unfortunately, her father had a bout with cancer and passed away just this December. With the help of close family and good friends, Leslie is still making her dream happen and could use all the additional support she can.

image

Leslie has started a campaign and is asking for your assistance on Kickstarter to help in her efforts to transform her newly bought work van into a mobile work of art. She also plans on documenting every step of her journey so stay tuned for the follow up. Once all goes to plan,  you will see West 47th in a city near you in September!

How to Shop for the Perfect Bathing Suit

Just like bra shopping or buying a pair of jeans, finding the right bathing suit can be equally challenging! The key to finding the right look is knowing what to look for. Take a look at these helpful tips as you shop!

image

Full Bust
The best flattering look for a full bust is by getting a bikini top with support such as under wire and thick straps. If your going for a 1 piece,  wearing a swim suit with a v neck or deep plunge is ideal to avoid the “uni-boob” look. Don’t forget, wearing a darker color on top also helps of you want to minimize.

image

Full Bottom
When it comes to minimizing the bootie, wearing dark on bottom is definetly a plus.  Other ways to look flattering is by wearing a full bikini bottom. Lastly, if you want a 1 piece bathing suit,  try to find one with a flattering design on top to keep the eyes entertained!

image

Small Bottom
Thought ruffles bottoms were only cute when you were a baby? Well if you want to add a little definition to your bottom half, ruffles or rouching will provide the illusion! Adding colorful prints and going with a different cut on bottom (not a full brief) also does the trick!

image

Small Bust
Again ruffles or fringes is gonna be your best friend! You can also never go wrong with a little padding to help boost up the girls!

image

Love Handles
Or “side pockets” as I like to call them, can make you a little self conscious, especially right after pregnancy. If you want to show off your new found curves, go retro and try a high waisted bottom that  comes up over the belly button. Another great style is the Tankini which provides coverage of the belly, yet still can be paired with your choice of bikini bottom.

At the end of the day,  the most important thing to remember is their is a swim suit for everyone. Knowing what to look for is only half the battle. Once you are on the right track,  it’s all about deciding which one or ones to get!  Happy shopping ladies!

Hot and in Full Effect!

Ok the last few days have been ridiculously hot! So much so that even after starting my car for 15 minutes, the air conditioner still doesn’t seem to be on full effect! I have always been a fan of summer…that is up until now, and add being pregnant, my God!

So here I am sporting another maxi style that I love (I actually had to cut 3 inches off because it was super long). I decided to add this fun hair accessory because it is not typically something I would wear. I think my look came together quite nicely,  what do you think?

Remember Your Other Father

Today in church,  we were reminded about who our father was. We all have a birth father and some of us were blessed to have them bring us up. We know our fathers as the patriarch of our families providing love,  protection. advise,  discipline and so much more!
However, as much as our Father’s may have wanted to,  they couldn’t protect us from everything.

We do have another father and he has also been there. When your physical father couldn’t heal you,  God did it.   When the verdict wasnt left up to you,  God did it. When you thought there was no other way,  God did it.  The Bible says in Psalm 139:17 “How precious also are your thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!”

Our God doesn’t just love us, but his thoughts towards us are great and plenty. Today as we celebrate our Father’s, dont forget to celebrate the one of whom nothing would be possible. Remember your other Father and whose child you are.

The Shirt Dress

Today was all about being casual chíc when I thought about this “earthy” look! This is great with a sweater for wear to work or an indoor business function where it’s cooler or without when it’s time for some fun in the sun! Shirt dresses are a definite must have for the season and no girl’s closet should be without one!

Olivia Culpo looked super chíc and stylish on this past Wednesday (June 10th) in a gold button embellished Camilla and Marc jumpsuit. She was attending a dinner party for the line celebrating their new Resort 2016 collection.  As always the former 2012 Miss USA, is killing it!
