Wintry Basics

Yea for the snow right? Kids are loving it because there is no school, they can sleep in, and best of all build a snow man. Yet me personally, I used to (and still) only like snow if it could get me out of work.  Otherwise, I don’t want to touch it, taste it or even hear the sounds of folks walking in it! Lol

However, if I have to be out in the snow, I make sure that I am fully dressed for the occasion! In this short post I have compiled just a few key pieces that every lady should own as well as a guide when using them during this wintry season. Enjoy!

You can’t survive winter without winter boots! Whether they are Uggs or true snow boots, they will be your best friend going from point A to point B in the snow!

Yesss! The tunic sweater and it should be worn right…with leggings. This style should not be confused for a “short dress.” This can also be worn with skinny jeans for an even more flattering look.

Leggings! Believe it or not, this is a great staple in any women’s wardrobe whether big or small. The problem comes in when we start to wear these as just pants. To make matters worst the leggings are often cheap and thin allowing us to see your assessts. Please don’t go there!

Layering is crucial! Instead of just wearing your coat over your tee shirt, be sure you are using it as a layering piece under your sweater to keep from being cold and catching a cold!

Get the skinny. Skinny jeans are ideal during the winter season they fit perfectly into your boots and unlike leggings, they are thicker and will be a great stylish defense against the cold.

One of my favorites! A scarve is definitely a must have. Matter fact get several in different textures, colors and weight. A scarve is an accessory that can turn a plain outfit into one that pops!

Every woman needs a stylish coat, especially one that can be worn for semi dressed  up and dress down occasions. My advice: get a wool coat. Whether single or double breasted, it is a great look with everyday or wear to work.

Which are your favorite “Wintry” Basics” pieces to wear?

Tommy John: The New Age of Men’s Underwear

I recently was contacted by a representative from Tommy John, a vastly growing men’s underwear  company that wanted to know my opinion on things like “what makes a man confident” and if I thought men “coordinated” their underwear like women. After taking a look at the company, I must say I am impressed. Even though I’m not a man, I think everything made is carefully thought out to make sure that every man is represented in the best way possible.

I am also thankful for the company reaching out to me and wanting to know about my thoughts and I am now sharing them with you! Hopefully You will check the brand out on your own and see what all the talk is about. Oh and did I mention, they are also available at Nordstrom. 😉

Do you think guys spend as much time picking and coordinating their underwear with their outfit as ladies?

Unlike women, I don’t think men spend any time trying to match their underwear with their outfits.  I think as long as they can find a clean pair they are good to go!

What should men be wearing this holiday season along with any tips you may have to help guys put their best foot forward? This holiday it’s all about looking good, but being comfortable. Ex. Cord blazer and dark denim and a checkered button down is perfect! It’s easy to wear and great for holiday parties.

How can a guy make himself look and feel good, especially with all of the different events going on? In regards to looking and feeling good, it all starts with confidence. A guy can have on mix match clothes, but if he’s got personality and he is sure of himself, he will catch the eye of every girl in the room!

 Should you both be coordinating?
Now if you’re in a relationship, I see nothing wrong with coordinating when attending an event. Coordinating makes for  better pictures and I also believe your other half should always be your best accessory!

Tommy John sells not only underwear, but lounge and leisure wear, regular tees and a variety of socks with prices ranging from $12-$120. What I love is that this site offers options. Whether you are a boxer or brief kind of guy or something in between, Tommy John has got you! Not to mention the premium modal fabric help in making sure what is supposed to be tucked in stays in place and never rides up.

To order or for more information, please be sure to check out their website: http://www.tommyjohn.com. Now till November 30th, the underwear company has a special print in honor of testicular cancer awareness.

Menswear: Ways to Wear Suiting

Fellas are you getting the most out of your suiting? I usually tell my female clients when purchasing a new suit, if there is 3 piece option, take it (this includes a jacket, pant and skirt)! Why you ask? Because you can create multiple ways to wear it. Secondly, when you don’t buy your suit as a set and you buy separates to match what you already own, you run the risk of the dye lot not matching (this is usually all the time from what I’ve found).  Frankly put, when it comes to suiting, invest now and thank yourself later!

The Right Shoe for the Right Look

I haven’t met a man yet who wasn’t into shoes. Some have a worthy collection of dress shoes while others have an excessive amount of the “latest” sneakers. Either way, it is important to wear the right shoe for the appropriate attire. So if your shoe game is on point or you are just getting started, here are some tips to guide you along the way!

Suit Styling Rules for Men

I don’t know about you, but I love a well dressed man! Whether he is in casual wear or suiting, it is important for ever man to be well put together. I was very excited when I stumbled upon the “27 Unspoken Suit Rules Every Man Should Know” and had to share! Here are a few of my favorites:

#3 A pocket square adds an extra level of polish, but make sure it doesn’t match your tie in either pattern or fabric choice. Before you go totally conservative, remember that the pocket square is where you get the most freedom and the one place you get to add a little pizzazz to your suit.

#19 Sleeve cuffs should be exposed about half an inch. For a harmonious look, try to match the visible cuff length to the amount of collar that is visible at the back of the neck.

#22 Your tie should always be darker than your dress shirt.

The Pocket Square

Wearing a pocket square doesn’t make the man, but it definitely makes the outfit! No suit is complete without the added accessory, best of all there is no one way to wear it leaving room for many creative styles!
