Confident

I love helping people feel good by looking great on the outside and boosting their confidence. However, notice I said “boosting.” Having self confidence in my opinion is not something that a person gives you, but helps you to expose what you already possess. It’s about being able to recognize it and to be willing to make some changes.

Change is not something that is always something easy to do, yet it needs to be done in order for you to grow and reach your potential. At the end of the day, I can help you look like a million bucks, but if you don’t think you are worth it, no one will believe you are either. You need to tap into the things that make you feel alive and worth living.

Be encouraged by motivational messages from speakers like Lisa Nichols and Tony Robbins and others. If all else fails, you have the Word of God. The Bible is your instruction for life and in it you can find encouragement. Pray and ask God who He has called you to be and don’t be afraid to be bold and be confident walking in it!

What is Your Look Conveying

I strongly believe that fashion is all about self expression. You know the phrase, “First impressions are everything,” well they may not be EVERYTHING, but they definitely will have you wondering! Now sometimes even the most well dressed have their days in which they just don’t feel like getting dressed and just want to be comfortable without all the “extra” stuff. However, dressing comfortable doesn’t mean that you have to look like you don’t care about your look.

Take my photo on the left for instances, if you never met me or knew anything about me, what would be your first impression? Now what about the second photo? Which looks well put together? Sophisticated? Business like? Fashionable? I hope that everyone agreees that look #2 is the best and hopefully it says “I’m about my business!”

At the end of the day, no matter how you look, someone is always going to have a comment to say. If you are dressed too nice the question then becomes, “where does she think she’s going?”  If not dressed up enough the question then is, “what was she thinking?” In any event,  my personal motto is that I would rather be overdressed knowing I look good then being under dressed and not presenting myself at my best.
Always remember to dress with a purpose. Dress the message you want to convey.  A little accessories and makeup can go a long way. You can be running errands and still look good doing them. Workout clothes are so fashionable now they could literally be worn almost anywhere!

Looks aren’t everything, but if first impressions truly are your first impressions. Do you know what your look is conveying? Be confident, smile and know that what you wear is also telling a story…your story. 😉

Life. Love. Loss.

One minute I was pregnant and then in another I wasn’t. On June 8th 2017 I miscarried at 9 weeks. My husband and I were not planning on our 4th child so soon after our last, however after about a month of getting use to the idea, we began to do so. We were planning when we were going to tell our families and announce to our friends. We were planning how we we were going to adjust our home and even our finances.

Two days prior to my miscarriage I had an annoying feeling in my stomach. Both my husband and I woke up around 2 am on Wednesday morning in the bathroom feeling sick. Initially we thought it was from pizza we had ordered the previous night, however the kids were not sick. That same day I started spotting which I had never did when pregnant with any of my other children, yet I knew it wasn’t uncommon.

Thursday morning I felt the same and was still spotting when I woke up and yet went into work. Around 12:40 I needed to go to the bathroom and that’s when it everything began. I passed what look like a large blood clot and what looked like a mucus plug afterward. Immediately fear started setting in and I knew something was very wrong.

I quickly grabbed my stuff and went to my car and as calmly as I could called my doctor’s office in which they had me come right away. It literally took me 10 min. to arrive getting their at 1pm. I didn’t want to call my husband until I knew if my fears were confirmed or not, yet at the same time I needed him to know and I needed him to pray. I sent him a text because I didn’t want to cry, but he immediately called me and we talked as I waited to be seen.
As soon as I was called I was asked to pee in a cup for testing. It was then that I passed which looked like another large blood clot and that is when I really knew that was it. That was my baby. The doctor told me the test came back that I was pregnant, however with all that had happen it didn’t sound like it was a healthy pregnancy.  After that, I had to get a sonogram to find out for sure.

As I lay there on the table, I prayed that somehow after everything, miraculously my baby was still there. After several minutes of clicking and hearing no heartbeat, I was told that the baby was no longer there and that I most likely passed out everything that needed to come out when I went to the bathroom. I still tried to remain calm even after the doctor told me that there is always a 20% chance of miscarrying, yet I had been fortunate to have three children up to that point.

Before leaving I had to have my blood work done and return after a week to make sure my hormone levels and everything went back to normal. As soon as I got to the car I let it all out and cried. Blaming myself of course and feeling like I was responsible for this happining. I called my husband in the midst and told him we had lost the baby, which was the hardest thing I had to do in life.

I can say that I never thought this would happen to me and honestly this still feels surreal. I never got to hear my baby’s heartbeat nor did I see him/her moving around on a screen. Somehow I think the loss is easier to deal with just because of that. Today, June 19th would have been our first sonogram scheduled for 2:30pm and I am reflecting on what could have been.
I chose to write this because I have always found comfort in writing. I chose to share this because you never know who may find their own comfort in knowing they are not alone.  I will never forget “Baby Fountain #4” and I will always be greatful that God chose me to be a carrier of one of his most precious gifts.

One thing that I know to be true is that God is still a good God and we know He will grant us the desires of our heart.  The other thing I know to also be true is “…that all things work together for good to them that are the called according to His purpose.” Rom. 8:28. When it’s time, we will have another child. As for now, we are all doing fine and take each day with an extra little bit of love and an extra little bit of care.

My Top Stylish Places to Shop on a Budget

When it comes to shopping there are s few places that I like to check out for deals. The first is H&M. I love H&M mainly for its wear to work pieces. I find that the colors are not too loud and tend to cater to several work appropriate looks! I also love how there are several contemporary looking styles and they have just enough flare for the look I want to portray (especially online)!

My second favorite store is Forever21. I love how when I walk into the store there is nothing but a sea of colors and prints under bright lights! Its almost as if I have no choice, but to be happy when I walk in to the place! This is definetly a store to come to when your looking for something fun and flirty. I also know that if I can’t find my size in one style, there is a TON of alternatives to choose from!

NY & Co. is another place I enjoy shopping in everyone once in a while whether for myself or a client because of their great deals. I especially like their cute jewelry and sandals! It is also a great place to get deals on capri’s and dresses for business casual looks and majority of the time you can buy one and get one half off!

Next favorite store to shop is Burlington Coat Factory. When it comes to dresses, particularly for special occasions, this is the place to go. Funny thing is I always think about this store last when I need to find a dress and it’s after I have wasted time shopping g around at other stores. Smh. This store closely reminds of shopping at Marshalls and TJ Maxx, however I think Burlington has the better deals!

Last, but not least, shopping at Target is a great way to get designer looks (and brand names when they are partnered) at an inexpensive price! I never knew about Target styles until one day I complimented someone on a top that I thought was BCBG and was told it came from Target for $12! SN: If your are planning a trip to the beach with family like I am, they have bathing suits on sale for a steal of a deal!

Now that you know my favorite places to shop while on a budget, what are yours?

Things That Make You Go Mmmm…

So I don’t get it. What’s going on with making of denim these days? Over the last month I have seen denim, in my opinion, at its worst. Personally, I love a great relaxed pair of boyfriend denim jeans with tasteful deconstruction. Nowadays, there is nothing tasteful, tactful or presentable about some of the denim out there. To top it off, some of these styles are designer brands costing upward of $1000!

Personally I just can’t make sense of spending a $1000 or even $20 for a 1/3 of a jean. If I were into any of the above styles, you better believe I would by the cheapest pair of jeans I could find and DIY! I get that as time goes on that change is expected with fashion and looks tend to get reinvented. However, where do you draw the line of inappropriate and just silly?

How do you feel about the above styles? Would you wear them and if so where to?
