Magnetic Eyelashes Review

So I did it. I got those crazy magnetic eye lashes that I know you have heard about! I ordered my pair through Groupon for 9.99 plus shipping making them a little over $14 and only took a week to receive. I will tell you, it took me an hour playing around with these lashes trying to get them just where I wanted them and to master taking them off and on (mainly because I put masacara on and they kept getting stuck on my lashes)!

When I first put them on, my intial reaction was “oh no, these are a not good. They are way too long.” They reminded me of Daisy Duck! I went ahead and trimmed them because I was definetly not going out like that! In the end, I think I ended up cutting the right pair a little too much, however I made sure the left pair was also cut the same.

When I finally put them on, I decided that they didn’t look bad! Of course they are nothing like real lashes, but for on occasions, why not! I took a few pictures and sent them to my sisters and they thought they looked good. I also showed them to the hubby and he approved too!

I had to go all the way in on my make up for my speaking engagement this past Friday and I just had to include my lashes! As far as I can tell, they worked out well (I mean no one said “hey it looks like you have something hanging off your eye.” Lol).

Overall, I would definetly wear these on occasion for those days I want to get all dolled up! I think they are a great alternative if you are someone who doesn’t care for glue and having to peel them off. Once you master putting them on, it will literally take you about a few seconds.

Tips:

-Be sure to use hair scissors to get a good cut. Keep in mind this is to accentuate the outer lid so you will be positioning the lashes from the middle of the eye and out.

-Be sure to trim following the angle already established. I actually allowed the top and bottom pieces to clip together before trimming.

-Since the lashes are synthetic and they are connected to a thin plastic, you can take your eye lash curler (if you have one) and put a little bend in the eye lash so it doesn’t appear too straight when on the eye.

-The instructions say you can place mascara on the magnetic lashes, once applied, but I didn’t care to. I used a primer on my lashes and double coated before applying a double coat of mascara and then the lashes (allow your lashes to dry so they don’t get stuck to magnetic lashes particularly helpful if you have to reposition them). Also, I chose to put black liner on my lids prior to help camouflage.

– Once you place the top lash on the base of your lash line (as close as possible) you add the bottom lash and it will attract to the top in a snap! Press them down into your own lash and viola! That’s it!

So now I want to know, have you ever tried the magnetic lashes? If so what are your thoughts? Yay or nay?

P.S. The first picture of the eye lashes in their case was after I trimmed them. I forgot to take it prior to the “big chop” lol.

Naturalista

I decided to bless y’all with some more of my favorite earth tone colors! Keeping it sophisticated and chíc, I decided to pair my new off the shoulder top from H&M with my favorite boyfriend jean. I added my signature lip color and few coordinating pieces and voila! I’m ready to start my day off…fashionably! 😂

What’s Your Colors?

Every since my hair has been natural, I have loved how earth toned colors have complimented my look! I believe that anyone can wear any color, it’s just a matter of shade and placement. I have personally found colors like bronze, forest green, cream, burgundy, mustard yellow and burnt orange have been my best colors to wear.

Finding the right shades of color is definetly key. For example if you are pale in color, you would not wear a beige dress that would wash you out, but instead opt for colors that would give you more life. Such would be a soft pink, navy or a dark red.  If you really wanted to wear beige, you wouldn’t want to have it near your face, but have the color either mixed with other vibrant colors in a skirt, shoe or other accessory.

Now if finding the right shade is not your strong suit, linking up with someone who knows about fashion such as a personal stylist would be beneficial. Knowing your “go to” colors is just the beginning of owning your style!

Confident

I love helping people feel good by looking great on the outside and boosting their confidence. However, notice I said “boosting.” Having self confidence in my opinion is not something that a person gives you, but helps you to expose what you already possess. It’s about being able to recognize it and to be willing to make some changes.

Change is not something that is always something easy to do, yet it needs to be done in order for you to grow and reach your potential. At the end of the day, I can help you look like a million bucks, but if you don’t think you are worth it, no one will believe you are either. You need to tap into the things that make you feel alive and worth living.

Be encouraged by motivational messages from speakers like Lisa Nichols and Tony Robbins and others. If all else fails, you have the Word of God. The Bible is your instruction for life and in it you can find encouragement. Pray and ask God who He has called you to be and don’t be afraid to be bold and be confident walking in it!

Something Good

Mannnn, how I miss not having to worry about the humidity and frizzing much less do anything to my hair with these faux locs. I also didn’t mind all the lovely compliments too! 😉 For years I have had people tell me my hair would be great for locking. I can say I fell in love with this style and it suits me however, don’t look for me locking my actual hair anytime soon folks!

I’m trying to plan the next time to do them between work, house work and watching my little buggers (last time it literally was an all day event with me doing them)! Anyone want to help? 😆 I’m also calling out my sister in law Jolita Fountain for the challenge to tag team once again (Oh and by the way she makes faux loc wigs too if your interested)!!!!!  If not this style, I’m looking for a fun up do, any ideas????

Shout outs to my little man Lamar for being my photographer 😘.

A Stylish Affair Recap

A week ago today I had my 2nd Annual A Stylish Affair Event and it was amazing! I got to share information  about shopping with a game plan and the importance of not having a closet full of “what if’s.”  I also had a fun with my guests by having a few of them participate in a little trivia (test your skills when I post the questions later)! Last, but not least, I had a fashion show demonstrating how you can get the most out of your closet.

This included a “3 in 1 Experience,” where I persoanally went to the homes of my two models and created 3 different looks using one key piece! I can say as long as I have been personal styling and doing closet assessments, I’m always amazed at what  looks are an obvious pairing to me, but are not for my clients. I truly enjoy showing people how to create looks using what they already own and nothing gives me more satisfaction then hearing my clients tell me that they “never would have thought to put these pieces together.”

Remember what you buy is an investment. So make sure you are invested in the right pieces! Lastly, clearing out your closet is not only a way for you to rid yourself of the unnecessary, but also a cleansing process. You never know what blessings await you when you just let go. Check out more up and coming posts of what was shared at the event throughout the week!

Victoria Beckham for Target Collaboration

This past Sunday was the reveal of Victoria Beckham’s collobration with Target in store and it was pretty cool! Prior to hitting my local Target I checked out Beckham’s designs online so I had an idea of what I would be seeing. I definitely think that the clothes online did not do the items in store justice! Being able to view the merchandise in person allows you to try it on and most importantly, feel what the fabrication is like.

The collection itself was a nice welcome into Spring providing fresh colors that popped along with prints that brought about the beauty of Nature. Even though I appreciated the ode to Nature,  I’m not a fan of having insects on my clothes and neither was Olivia. She wasnt feeling the bee print and if I had to choose, I would have gone with a ladybug since they don’t sting or chase after you!

In my final observation, I liked how there were “mommy and me” outfits and could definetly see Beckham and her daughter Harper rocking a few of the styles. Especially the ones with the scalloped details. As for me, I got to try on only one dress that Olivia and I could wear together, however it was a little to short and theses hips were not made for the style. I would have tried on a couple more coordinated pieces, however the baby was crying non stop until I picked him up!

Overall, I love Beckham’s style. Kudos for her making her line affordable (price range $6-$70) and in plus sizes going up to a 3X! I did think the kids line was more enjoyable then the women’s, although the fit was about true to size. My daughter however, had to go down two sizes for fit because of how generous the cuts were and she is already tiny (she is almost 5 years old and would have needed a 3T). Nonetheless, below are a few pieces that I thought were adorable on my Muffins.

This last one is my favorite! I may have to order online since her size was not available in store.  What do you think?
