The Nakedness of “S.T.Y.L.E”

It was such an honor to have author, speaker and teen girl advocate, Amanda Eaddy Oliver at the “A Stylish Affair Event” on April 29th! She gave such an empowering message on taking care of yourself with brilliant look on “style.” Today, she exudes confidence and enjoys teaching others how to do the same.

“How we truly look on the outside depends on what is going on inside. Our appearance (make up, no make-up, stylish, plain, clean kept, messy etc.) doesn’t depend on anyone else but ourselves.

We control STYLE.

When was the last time you were okay with your nakedness?

I mean, no make-up, no designer tags/bags, shoes, hair undone, stretch marks, dimples, pudges and more?

At one time in my life, my nakedness hurt. I couldn’t stand to see myself fully unclothed. It was a reminder of what I hadn’t accomplished. Those dreams that hadn’t been fulfilled. These were moments where I felt hopeless.

These were times where my identity was tied to my relationships. However they viewed me was who I was. Because I couldn’t embrace my nakedness, I had no style.

Do you stare at the mirror and like what you see? That matters! Our views on ourselves control how we dress and how we function in this world. It controls how we communicate with others.

Our nakedness dictates our style.

True Style is:

Y- You

In order to reach these levels in style, you must first get naked, stripping yourself of everything and sitting still.

Satisfaction says “ I am not trying to be like anyone else but who God says I should be.” Stop the searching, trying to find yourself in others. Your identity doesn’t exist in them but in Him.

Tolerance says “ I can deal with me, flaws and all. God created a masterpiece when he created me. I am necessary.” Who you are is great. You are not a mistake. Be okay with your presence alone.

A Stylish Affair: What she Wore

When it came down to me finding a cute and flirty dress for my event, I knew I would be able to find one at Forever21. Everytime I go into the store I see nothing but a sea of colors. I went to a few of my other favorites stores prior that included H&M and New York & Co. and of course I bought nothing needed for my event! Lol. I will say that the items I did buy were definitely needed basics for the Fall season and were on sale!

I also did not find my dress until literally the day before, which I know is last minute but I like to think I work well under pressure! 😉 I’m not a huge fan of asymmetrical dresses, yet when I saw this one and it was also an easy wearing wrap style, I needed to have it! Talk about stepping out and trying something new (I also think the older I get, the more I am prone to revisiting styles I didn’t think I could wear).

What do you think?

2nd Annual “A Stylish Affair”

Just a week from today “A Stylish Affair” is back! This year I am so excited to be sharing tips on how to shop, utilizing your current wardrobe and more! My first event was amazing and I got to connect with a lot of great and talented people. The feedback was so positive that I had to do it again in hopes of impowering others.

I truly enjoy shopping for my clients. In doing so I can educate on what works for their body type and bring out their best features. It’s easy to help people look good, but my goal with every client is to help them feel good too. No matter how much make up you wear or expensive clothes you put on, you must not only value yourself, but have the confidence that you are truly more than a conqueror!

Don’t miss this year’s “A Stylish Affair” event where I look forward with the help of special guest, Amanda Eaddy Oliver to inspiring you!  Tickets are only $5 and must be purchased prior to the event at See you there!

Colors of Spring 2017

Just incase you didn’t know, it’s officially Spring!!! Even though the weather has been flopping back and forth, my prediction is that we will have no more snow and those “Spring-like” temperatures will start to be more consistent over the next week ( at least I hope lol)! If you have been in the shopping lately you will have noticed that Spring is in full effect in all your major department stores. Knowing what styles to wear this season is just part of it.

Knowing what colors to wear is the other! According to Pantone Forecaste, the following will be the top 10 colors for this Spring:

Island Paradise

Pale Dogwood

Pink Yarrow

All of these beautiful colors are right on trend and are sure to turn heads! I just  looove Pink Yarrow, Primrose and Greenery (reminds me a of cute velour purse I got from Banana Republic years ago)! Did I also mention that Greenery  is also the chosen color of the year inspired by none other, nature 😉. Looks like it’s time to going shopping!

What colors will you be rocking this Spring?

The Mother & Daughter Gala was awesome and would you believe I found my dress literally hours before the event started??? Lol. Well this working mom of three literally had no time prior to find a dress, but one place that I knew wouldn’t fail me when it came down to it was Burlington Coat Factory! I tried on about 12 different dresses and narrowed it down to two. My daughter really loved this one and of course you know I love this shade of red (plus it was only $35)!!!

In case you didn’t know, I have been working out the last month doing Beach Body’s 21 Day Fix and drinking my protein shakes through my company ID Life. People always say I don’t look like a mom of three or that I am “small enough,” however when the clothes come off, I know what I’m working with. Trust and believe the nooks and crannies were smoothed out on this night and all in all, I looked and felt amazing!

Mother & Daughter Gala

What a time we had at the 3rd Annual Mother & Daughter Gala hosted by Virtuous Women Empowering Ministries by way of Kingdom Love Ministries Church. The event was filled with entertainment that ranged from African dancing, spoken word and a powerful inspirational message from First Lady Staci Fuller. This year theme was “masquerade.” One would think it was about dressing up and wearing your best custom mask awaiting when it was time to reveal who you were. This was sort of the case.

The wearing of the mask was optional, however the powerful message behind wearing the mask  was one that all could relate to. It was about how we all go through life at some point wearing a mask to shield something in which we don’t want others to see because of fear of what others may say.  Some may come in the form of  unforgiveness, giving into peer pressure or even dealing with depression as First Lady Fuller shared of her own experience. This time was about revealing what was under the mask and admitting what your faults or needs were and recognizing the need for help.

Not just getting professional help, but spiritual help from our Lord and Savior. The message was not for just our older women, but our younger too who allow things like the media to shape them into the opposite of what God have called them to be. We learned self love and to honor one another as women and those up and coming. Overall it was a great time shared with family, friends and a new found sisterhood.

A red carpet affair. 😍

    Striking a Pose

Where am I going? Oh no where special! Ever wake up and just feel like looking extra cute for no particular reason? This was me and no one could tell me differently! I not only knew I looked good, but I felt good too!

Best of all, the most expensive item seen is not my dress, but my pumps that I got for $30 during Macy’s close out sale at Regency. The “steal of a deal” is actually my dress that I snagged for only $4.99 at H&M online! I’m not typically one to buy the first thing I see however, this purchase couldn’t be helped and when you see something you like and it’s reasonable, why not?

One of the best parts of being a personal stylist is seeing the face of your clients when you show them everything they’ve  purchased and they still have money left to spend! The key to shopping and not spending a fortune is to go in with a plan and not derive from it. I wanted to find a dress for under $15 and I ended up finding one even cheaper!

So whose your favorite personal stylist that can get you looking fabulous at a bargain of a deal… me of course! Inbox me for styling tips wherever you are. Talk you soon! Mwah
